Delayed Matriculation

Students accepted to USCSM may request a one-year delay of matriculation for reasons of personal or professional development or significant extenuating circumstances. Application for delayed matriculation must be made in writing to the Office of Admissions by April 15. The written application must contain the specific reasons for the request. Students granted a delay of matriculation agree not to apply to any other medical school in the interim. The Admissions Committee will make decisions on an individual basis by May 15. USCSM reserves the right to limit the number of students granted delay of matriculation in each entering class. For additional information, contact the Office of Admissions.

Tuition and Fees
Medical students are individually responsible for tuition, fees, and living expenses. All students anticipating the need for financial assistance at any time during their medical education should undertake early long-term planning. USCSM has limited resources for financial aid for medical students. In addition, various USC financial aid programs make it possible for many students to attend USCSM who could not do so if left entirely to their own resources. Eligibility for all aid, except some academic scholarships, is dependent on a student's financial circumstances. Information and application forms for financial aid programs can be obtained from the USCSM Office of Student Services.
Transfer and Advanced
Standing

The USCSM Admissions Committee will consider applications for transfer into the M-II and M-III years provided positions are available. All applicants for transfer must be currently enrolled and in good standing in a medical school accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education and meet the prerequisite requirements in order to receive consideration. All acceptances into the M-III year are contingent upon verification by the National Board of Medical Examiners of an overall, average passing score on Step 1 of the United States Medical Licensing Examination following completion of the M-II year.
Applications for transfer are available after January 1. All application materials (including supplementary information and a non-refundable $75 processing fee) must be received in the Office of Admissions by April 1. Supplementary information includes an essay on the reasons for transfer, letters of evaluation from the dean and two faculty members of the medical school in which the applicant is currently enrolled, and verification of MCAT scores. Requests for MCAT score verification should be addressed to:
